In 2009, Daniele Fanelli wrote a meta-analysis of various researches which aimed to measure the prevalence of scientific misconduct among researchers. Her results are astounding. Up to 33.7% of respondents admitted that they used questionable research practices, while up to 72% said that their colleagues engage in scientific misconduct. Fanelli notes that most surveys included in the meta analysis asked sensitive questions, and there is a huge possibility that these statistics are conservative estimates.
